Last Wednesday we took Austin to his first Circus. It was in a Junior High gymnasium so we knew it would be littler and not as many animals but didn’t know much of what else they would be having at it.
It was set up in just a little circle with a curtain behind it. Then off to the side they had the snacks, balloons, light up wands and all those souvenir you would normally find. We got there a little early so we had a bit of time to waste and Austin did a great job. He sat there and waited like such a big boy. We got a few pictures before it started.
And then the show began….
It lasted about an hour and a half but with an intermission of about 10 mins in the middle of it. It first started with a balancing act. He did really well and didn’t fall and did a few different tricks. Wasn’t so sure about the costumes though!!
We then moved on to the dogs. They had a bunch of poodles doing several different tricks. I think their best trick was them peeing around the edge and of course having to remark after another dog covered up his scent. That is a little distracting trying to watch when you keep seeing dogs lifting their legs. But they did go down a big slide, and doing wheel barrow, and also did a disco dance.
Austin really did enjoy the dogs. He kept talking about how they jumped and had to Alijah when we picked him up from Grandmas.
There of course was a clown. The clown was ok. He was just a little funny and a lot cheesy!!
Then the best part of the show was a miniature horse. When it came out Austin lighted up. He watched it go around the ring and then it jumped over a board. He told Alijah and Grandma all about the horse jumping. Except he doesn’t say horse yet and only the sounds. So it makes it even that much cuter.
After the horse they had the clown and Grinch come out and sang. Austin didn’t get that so he wasn’t sure what was going on. Then there was a balancing act. I was pretty impressed with her. I didn’t think she was going to do the tricks she did.
And last act of the night was a dance and drummers. This was also pretty good.
We then had the man of the hour…Santa Claus. We got in line for Austin to get his picture taken. Austin went right up to him with arms out ready to sit on his lap. He actually smiled a little for the picture.
My over all thoughts. Was it worth the money? No not really, but it was worth the time that Austin had. He really liked the dogs and horse and got a good picture from Santa. This gets me excited for this next summer taking both boys to a real circus with the big animals and tricks. I know Austin will love it and Alijah should be old enough to really enjoy it as well.
Tomorrow will be all about Austin’s Birthday!!
